About David Freeman

David Freeman

David Freeman, a native of San Francisco, California, attended U.C. Berkeley before going into the Peace Corp in India. David lived in India and Nepal for nearly 5 years, learning to speak the languages and play Indian classical music. His artistic abilities were drawn to playing classical music with sitar and tabla as a student at the Music College, Banaras Hindu University. From there he spent a year doing a concert tour of France with his teacher, Narendra Bataju from Kathmandu, entertaining audiences from the Nepali National Theatre in Kathmandu to the UNICEF Auditorium in Paris and the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Victoire in Metz. After a successful tour David returned to the United States to follow other pursuits and reintegrate into western life.

In 1977 he turned his focus to photography and since then he has been delighting people from all over the world with his images. Winning many awards for his fine art photography, David has been featured in a number of national and regional publications and shown his art in numerous galleries on the West Coast.

For over thirty years David and his wife Sharon have developed their dreams into reality with the Freeman Photo Galleries and their shop, The Rainbow Bridge. Creating a line of Visual Pleasures note cards and posters along with their original photography they have also encouraged their three children to pursue their dreams in the arts.

Today David exhibits throughout Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii. The Rainbow Bridge in the Village at Squaw Valley, California, displays the most extensive collection of David's framed photography and giclées.
